Tunun Gringsing, as the preservation of customary property, has also received Geographical Indication certification since 2016. There are 27 Tunun Gringsing motifs, including new motifs created in the 1980s, which are recognized.

These motifs were introduced to the international world as intangible cultural heritage. Developing these new motifs proves Tunun Gringsing sticks to its DNA while adhering to local cultural roots.

The documentation of Tunun Gringsing is expected to provide added value to the double ikat weaving culture to maintain the continuity of Tunun Gringsing as one of the three world masters of Double Ikat weaving and to make Tenganan Pegringsingan village a role model for weaving culture tourism villages in Indonesia.
